April and May are the best times to visit your local woodland to see stunning bluebell displays.

Our favourites locally are Cawston Woods in Rugby, Badby Woods in Northamptonshire and Ryton Woods situated between Rugby and Leamington.

Cawston Woods

The housing estate at Cawston is only twenty years old.  Cawston Woods, on the other hand, are centuries old. This protected woodland is home to a whole variety of native tree species.  In Spring each year it’s also the site of an impressive bluebell display underneath the trees’ canopy.

To reach the woods, head out of Rugby through Bilton heading towards the A45.  After leaving Bilton follow the Coventry Road.  Go through and over the roundabout by Cawston village and head along the Coventry Road.  After three hundred metres take a left down Cawston Lane.  Immediately after a short dip in the road there’s a small car park on the right.  If you reach the entrance to Lime Tree Village (retirement homes) you know that you’ve gone too far.

Park up and follow the pathway through the woods.  You’ll see bluebells  flowering almost immediately. Continue walking until you reach a large clearing.  It’s here that the bluebells are at their most impressive.

The magical bluebell walk  has become a real  favourite especially during this warm weather.
