If you visit the beautiful coastal town of Sidmouth, in South Devon it is well worth making the effort to walk up to the cliff tops for views of the town.
The climbs are steep but you will be rewarded with magnificant views.
1.Heading East;
This is the steeper of the two walks. If you begin walking up the hill through the residential area you will see the footpath. Follow the path up through open countryside. Take time to admire the view before heading through the woodland.
Continue walking through the woodland over the cliff top and you will find the lovely isolated shingle beach at Weston. Weston beach is only accessible on foot, is unspoilt and without facilities. It’s hard to resist making the descent for a swim if the weather is warm.
2. Heading West;
Walk along to the end of the beach and take the path along the coastline. When you see the steps you can climb them to reach the lovely Jacobs ladder cafe and gardens. Here there are superb views back to Sidmouth on one side and to Jacobs ladder beach, Ladram Bay and beyond on the other side.
Continue beyond and above the cafe and beach on a gradual incline for more excellent views of the town.
