Castlerigg Stone Circle is a must see, neolithic 4,500 year old monument just outside Keswick.

This is a lovely half day walk, but if you are short on time there is also road parking which is only a 5 minute drive from Keswick.

We began with a cup of coffee at Springs Farm cafe, Springs Road on the eastern edge of Keswick. Take the footpath from Springs Farm up through woodland with the beck to your left.

The path begins at Springs Farm with the beck to your left.

Continue uphill, with the beck to your left and views open towards Derwentwater to your right. Cross over the footbridge at the top.

Cross over the bridge and then the lane and continue walking straight ahead, along the path through open farmland until you reach the stones.

The views are incredible. Once you reach the Stone Circle you can understand why this was the spot chosen all those years ago as a truly special place to gather.

After absorbing the atmosphere and incredible mountain scenery, head back down into Keswick along the lane to the left, and then take the disused railway line which leads directly into Fitz park.
